Michigan football is hosting a bunch of top targets at the recruiting BBQ later this month and that includes DJ Pickett and Ryan Montgomery.

As far as the Michigan football program is concerned, much of the heavy lifting is done in terms of the 2024 recruiting class.

The Wolverines have a total of 26 commitments and most of them are four-star prospects according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

So the focus is starting to shift toward the 2025 recruiting class. There are still some elite targets on the board in 2024 and one of them that’s expected to take a visit for the recruiting BBQ is Zaquan Patterson, a top-100 defensive back out of Miami.

Well, Patterson won’t be the only South Florida defensive back on campus. Chris Ewald, a 2025 commitment for Michigan football will also visit, as well as five-star defensive back DJ Pickett, who is ranked No. 8 overall in the 2025 class via the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound safety has already visited Michigan football three times, including two trips to Ann Arbor this calendar year with the last visit in June. EJ Holland of The Wolverine reported that Pickett will visit again after the dead period.

It might not be for the recruiting BBQ, but Michigan football will host Pickett that same weekend, which is good news either way. Florida, Georgia, Florida State, and Alabama are all in the mix for Pickett but the Wolverines appear to be a player, especially with his upcoming unofficial visit.

Four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery to visit Michigan football again

Zach Libby of The Wolverine also confirmed that four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery will visit Michigan football’s recruiting BBQ.

Montgomery is ranked No. 208 overall according to the On3 industry rankings for the 2025 class. The Findlay, Ohio product is also ranked 15th among quarterbacks at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds.

The talented signal-caller has been a frequent visitor to Ann Arbor and this will be his 10th visit overall to Michigan football, as well as the fourth in the spring.

Ohio State is an obvious threat but the Buckeyes already have a 2025 pledge at quarterback, so if Michigan football prioritized Montgomery, I feel like they could win his commitment.

The issue is that Bryce Underwood is the top target and doesn’t seem close to a decision. Michigan leads for Montgomery with the On3 prediction machine but I don’t see them making any QB moves until Underwood is off the board.
