Michigan Wolverines news: 17 preseason All-Big Ten selections, transfer portal update, and more
In our latest Michigan Wolverines roundup, 17 Michigan football players were named preseason All-Big Ten, a transfer update for Michigan basketball, and more.
In another reminder of just how talented the 2023 Michigan football team is, 17 Wolverines were selected by Athlon as preseason All-Big Ten players.
That’s an impressive number but it’s not an exaggeration. The Michigan Wolverines are loaded on both sides of the ball. Michigan football has won back-to-back Big Ten championships and will be looking to make it three in a row next season.
The Wolverines certainly have the depth and it seems very likely that double-digit players are going to hear their names called in the 2024 NFL draft.
It’s an exciting time to be a Michigan football fan and I for one can’t wait for the start of the 2023 season. Also, Michigan football landed a projection for a top EDGE defender in the 2024 class, adding to the Wolverines’ momentum on the recruiting trail.
Michigan Basketball to host transfer
We have been wondering what’s going on with former Tennessee transfer Olivier Nkamhoua and it appears he will be returning to college.
Nkamhoua had declared for the NBA draft, but after not getting an invite to the combine, he’s scheduled a visit to West Virginia and now one to see Michigan basketball on June 2nd.
This is a good sign for Michigan basketball. However, I’m still really worried about West Virginia in this recruitment. The Mountaineers are going to throw a boatload of money at him and the Michigan Wolverines don’t have that ability.
Hell, Hunter Dickinson claimed he made less than six figures in NIL with the Michigan Wolverines last season, so it’s hard to see U-M putting a big NIL deal on the table to land Nkamhoua.
We’ll see how things go, but Michigan basketball could desperately use some good news and Nkamhoua is one of the last chances at landing a pro-type player who will upgrade the roster.
