These are three of the most absurd overreactions from Michigan’s Big Ten championship victory over the Boilermakers on Saturday night.

Michigan football rose to the occasion as the Wolverines prevailed over Purdue with a strong second-half performance.

The offense erupted for 43 points, while the defense kept Purdue from gaining any ground in the touchdown department.

Michigan football strolls into the college football playoff now as the two seed with a winnable matchup with TCU that could bring them to Los Angeles to play for it all.

Here are the three overreactions.

1. Winning the Big Ten over a four-loss team is no big deal

To say winning the conference over Purdue is downplayed because they lost four games already is nonsense.

Michigan beat Ohio State in the de facto title game and beat the best that the West has to offer in the Boilermakers. They won the West fair and square which makes this statement an overreaction.

Winning the Big Ten back-to-back nonetheless means more than words can describe to this program that can do no wrong.

Two years ago they couldn’t play defense and had no good quarterback play either. How a lot has changed since the covid year of 2020 for an organization that was dying to be in this spot for oh so long.

Michigan football is 25-2 since then and should be 26-1 if not for a last-second loss to Michigan State.

This truly is the modern golden age of Michigan football that fans have been hoping for since 1997-98. The same ending to that beloved year may happen this year if the Wolverines can win just two more and reach college football’s peak.
