Michigan Football: Jim Harbaugh offers ‘no update’ on Blake Corum, others
If Michigan football fans were hoping to get some updates on the injuries to Blake Corum and others, Jim Harbaugh quashed that on Monday.
Jim Harbaugh said some interesting things on Monday about the Ohio State game, but the Michigan football head coach didn’t offer any injury updates.
Blake Corum is the talk of the Michigan football world right now as he left the Illinois game with a knee injury in the win over Illinois last Saturday.
Corum went to the locker room and Harbaugh said there was no structural damage. However, Corum only played one snap in the second half.
Although Corum did say that he was going to play while he was handing out Turkeys for Thanksgiving on Sunday, it’s hard to know what to believe.
Harbaugh also didn’t offer any updates on Mike Morris, Luke Schoonmaker, or Donovan Edwards. But really, Michigan football fans shouldn’t be surprised.
Harbaugh is generally pretty tight-lipped about injuries and I wouldn’t expect that to change before the biggest game of the season.
An “opportunity” for Michigan football
Harbaugh talked about what an “opportunity” it was for Michigan football and he’s right about that. The rivalry seems to be back at Michigan notched a win last season but winning this No. 2 vs No. 3 matchup — the fourth top-10 showdown since Harbaugh has been the head coach — would signal that the tide has truly shifted.
Michigan had the emotional advantage last season and led by Aidan Hutchinson and others, it was a team on a mission. This year, Ohio State feels like that team.
The Buckeyes have been reminded of that loss since last season. Despite winning the Rose Bowl and going 11-2, they proclaimed 2021 a failure and by their standards, if they lose to the Wolverines, 2022 will be a failure too.
So there is a lot of pressure and expectation. For Michigan, it’s a chance to prove last season wasn’t a fluke and for both to take a huge step toward the College Football Playoff.
As far as the injuries, with everything at stake, I would be surprised if he didn’t see Corum, Edwards, Morris, and Schoonmaker. I think Michigan football will have all those guys in uniform but whether or not they are 100 percent is another question.
