Michigan Football: 5 Questions for Hate Week
Can Michigan turn red zone trips into touchdowns?
Literally, the only reason why Michigan lost to Michigan State last year was because of a blown officiating call (the strip-sack fumble controversy), but mainly because Michigan failed to score touchdowns in the red zone.
That cannot happen again this year. This time Michigan is at home, on their turf, in front of their fans. The players know that they blew it against MSU, and the players have tried to forget that fateful day ever since.
They don’t need to be reminded of that game, so it will be important for Michigan football to score touchdowns.
Michigan settled for three field goals in the red zone against Penn State, which could’ve cost them if that run game hadn’t been extremely efficient, and Penn State could move the ball on offense.
We all understand that MSU is no Penn State this year, but you can let any team back into a game or lose a game by settling for too many field goals.
Michigan could’ve, and should’ve blown out Michigan State last year. The playcalling needs to be on point for this game in the red zone. Let’s hope they learned their lesson from last year and score seven, not three, this time around.
