Limit turnovers

This one is going to hurt Wolverine fans a bit. Turnovers were killer last year. JJ’s fumble eventually gave MSU the lead and Cade’s interception was the dagger.

While most fans imagine (or hope) that the Wolverines will have a little bit more room for mistakes this year due to the talent gap, you never know in this rivalry. The Spartans always come ready to play against the Wolverines, so it’s very possible that this could be a one-possession game in the fourth quarter.

The Wolverines must take care of the ball. Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards have been amazing at this, with zero lost fumbles between them this season according to ESPN. JJ has similarly fared well, with only two interceptions.

It’s fair to assume that Mel Tucker is going to try to bait JJ into some ill-advised throws, so he must be very smart and cautious. It’s simple; with zero turnovers, it’s very likely the Wolverines win this game without drama. Give the ball away, and things could start to get scary.
