2. Penn State quit in the second half

One can make the assumption that this is a factual statement and that’s reasonable. They were getting torched on the ground and never recovered, but they were still trying, although it wasn’t working one bit. That makes this one a slight overreaction that can be argued as a true reaction from the belittling of the Nittany Lions.

Michigan football hammered its point across with long, meteoric runs that Penn State’s defense got obliterated by. That’s the clear takeaway from Saturday which future opponents will gameplan for when they face Manny Diaz’s unit. They were on a roll heading into Ann Arbor and had a top-five run defense before the loss.

On the other side of the ball, Michigan kept Sean Clifford bottled up beside one run in the second quarter. Later in the day, Will Johnson clobbered him on a scramble that basically knocked him out for the rest of the game. It was a season-low in passing yards for Clifford in the defeat. Drew Allar came in and was also ineffective against Michigan’s stifling tenacious defense.
