Final game-by-game predictions for Michigan Football in 2022
Michigan at Indiana
The last time Michigan football went to Bloomington, the Wolverines suffered one of the worst losses of the Harbaugh era as a lengthy win streak against the Hoosiers went by the wayside.
Tom Allen has always found a way to get his team to battle Michigan and I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a battle. I just don’t see Indiana having the talent to hang for four quarters.
But there’s always one game on the schedule that’s more difficult than you expect and this could be it for the Wolverines. It’s the second straight road game and right after a trip to Iowa.
Connor Bazelak came from Missouri to be the starter and DJ Matthews has shown promise at wide receiver. Michigan should be able to dominate in the trenches and the Wolverines come away with a two-touchdown victory.
Final score: Michigan 31, Indiana 17
Penn State at Michigan
The Penn State game was a defining moment for Michigan football. The Wolverines rallied late and beat a solid team on the road. More than anything, it showed this program it still knew how to win tough games after the disaster at Michigan State last season.
Penn State also won in Ann Arbor in 2020. That was the only win under James Franklin at Michigan Stadium. But even though this Penn State team is unranked, it will be better than a season ago. I expect Sean Clifford to be better, but not good enough to win in Ann Arbor.
It will be an NFL-style game and both defenses will play well. Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy will use his legs to help make the difference in the red zone in a win that’s closer than the score indicates.
Final score: Michigan 31, Penn State 20
