Michigan Football: All newest recruiting projections after last weekend
Michigan football hasn’t landed any new commitments yet but if the recent projections are right, it won’t be long.
While recruiting has been slow in terms of commitments to Michigan football this spring, a lot of predictions have started to come in for many different recruits to the Wolverines.
It’s already known at this point that Michigan hasn’t had a commitment since March, but this happens every year, as Michigan doesn’t usually pick up the bulk of their commits until June-July, and right around National Signing Day in December.
I’ve admittedly been one of those people that’s become a little annoyed with how Michigan football has handled recruiting, but, we all just have to trust the process and let it play out. Harbaugh has almost always finished strong, with top-10 class after top-10 class.
I would much rather wait and see Michigan secure commitments from guys who are all in 100%, than rush, earn a commit, and then that commit changes his mind and goes to another program. As the saying goes, “good things come to those who wait.”
Is it disheartening to see Little Brother earn commits left and right with their cheesy showcases? Sure. The same goes when OSU gets a commit. It sucks. But again, water will eventually find its level and Michigan will start to dominate on the trail sooner rather than later (and will likely pass MSU like they always do).
With all of that being said, after Michigan football hosted a lot of prospects over the weekend, as I mentioned earlier, a bunch of predictions came in for Michigan to land a ton of recruits. Here are all the recruiting predictions:
Side note: These are projections, and nothing is set in stone. More than likely, a few of these guys won’t pick Michigan, but I expect the vast majority to don the Maize and Blue when it is all said and done.
St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter College Prep three-star WR Frederick Moore
Right now, Moore has Michigan, Illinois, and Michigan State as his top-three schools. He already took his official visit to Illinois, and obviously just visited Michigan this past weekend. Michigan State does get him in for a visit this weekend though.
Right now, 247sports and Rivals have both projected Moore to Michigan. Brice Marich, Sam Webb, Josh Henschke, Zach Libby, and Davis Moseley have all done expert projections for Moore to Michigan.
Although Michigan’s WR room is stacked, they will always welcome field stretchers, and Moore is definitely one of them. He’s got good size at 6’0, 175 pounds. A track star, Moore ran an 11.55 second 100-meter dash. Michigan could definitely use his services.
Buford (Ga.) three-star OT Paul Mubenga
This was Mubenga’s second visit to campus over the weekend after he had visited for the spring game back in April.
247sports’ Steve Wiltfong, Brice Marich, Sam Webb, and Rivals’ Davis Moseley all cast in their projections for Mubenga to become a Wolverine. Mubenga is recorded at 6’3, 275 pounds. His other main pursuers are South Carolina, LSU, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Penn State.
Anaheim (CA.) Fairmont Prep Academy four-star ATH Collins Acheampong
247sports’ Steve Wiltfong, Greg Biggins, Brice Marich, and Sam Webb, On3’s EJ Holland, and Rivals’ Josh Henschke, Zach Libby, and Davis Moseley have all projected Acheampong to the Wolverines.
Acheampong is 6’7, 254 pounds, and Michigan will probably play him as an edge rusher, but there’s a possibility that he is flexed to the offensive line instead. Acheampong is from Ghana, and is very interested in what Michigan football has to offer based on what David Ojabo was able to do in his time in Ann Arbor.
UCLA, LSU, Miami, and USC are also recruiting him hard.
Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll three-star DE Joseph Mupoyi
Joseph Mupoyi was not one of the many visitors last weekend, but he will be visiting this weekend, and so Davis Moseley decided to put in a projection anyways. EJ Holland has had his projection in for a long time, so this isn’t a surprise.
Mupoyi is 6’6, 225 pounds, and is still considering Penn State, Miami, Ole Miss, and Maryland.
Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute four-star LB Semaj Bridgeman
There aren’t as many projections with this recruit, but EJ Holland, Josh Henschke, Davis Moseley, and Zach Libby all have Bridgeman pledging to the Wolverines.
He is 6’1, 220 pounds, and also plays tight end and linebacker for Imhotep Institute.
Peoria (Az.) Liberty three-star DT My’Keil Gardner
This one doesn’t have many projections, but Zach Libby put his prediction for Gardner to the Wolverines. Oregon, USC, and Texas are also pursuing him.
Houston (Tx.) Strake Jesuit four-star TE Chico Holt
Our Chris Peterson just wrote about Chico Holt here. His recruitment has generated a lot of buzz recently, and Michigan might have found their next great TE. They need it too after the unfortunate decommitment of Andrew Rappleyea.
Four people from Rivals have given their projections and a Texas writer, Hudson Standish, has given his prediction as well.
Out of all the guys on this list, I think he is one of the safest bets to commit. We should hopefully see a commitment soon.
Class of 2024 five-star QB Jadyn Davis
Davis couldn’t make it up this weekend for a visit, but he was balling out in Las Vegas at the OT7 camp. He has received five futurecast predictions to the Maize and Blue in the last week, and was seen wearing a Michigan towel and cleats during the camp.
Obviously, going all-in on this guy after he wears the school’s gear (on his own accord without any outside influence I might add) has to be priority #1 for the 2024 class. I’m sure this will surely make fans forget about CJ Carr if he eventually commits.
We got a long way to go with this recruitment, but this is definitely extremely positive news so far.
So, all in all, a great weekend for Michigan football. You can still have a great weekend without receiving any commitments, and that’s what Michigan did.
Some more events are coming up soon for Michigan, and a lot more recruits are coming in to visit soon, so it will be really busy for the Wolverines for the next month and a half or so.
