Michigan football seemed to knock it out of the park on a big official visit weekend and a pair of top targets on defense is being projected to U-M.

It seems like just a matter of time before Michigan football breaks its commitment drought as the Wolverines hosted double-digit recruits for official visits over the weekend and early returns are pretty strong.

While Michigan football hasn’t picked up a commitment yet, the Wolverines have started to trend with expert projections for three-star tight end Chico Holt. He’s an impressive in-line tight end and one helluva blocker who will fit in well with Michigan.

He was also projected to land with Michigan by Rivals, 247 sports, and On3, so it seems like a pretty safe bet at this point that a verbal commitment is coming.

Michigan football trending with 4-star defenders too

Now the expert picks are coming in on the other side of the ball and one of those is in favor of four-star EDGE Collins Acheampong landing with Michigan football.

EJ Holland projected Michigan to land Acheampong prior to this official visit and he was joined by Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports on Sunday.

Acheampong is a 6-foot-8 athletic freak who came to the United States from The Congo to play basketball and the Wolverines were certainly able to sell what they did with David Ojabo to him since he’ll be playing the same position most likely.

Mike Morris could be another comparison as a really big (6-foot-6) pass rusher who is able to move around. Acheampong could also make a really good five-technique with that length.

Miami and Washington are still in the mix but things are looking good for the Wolverines, who have a 92-percent chance to get him according to the On3 prediction machine.

Another 2023 defender that’s trending to Michigan football is four-star linebacker Semaj Bridgeman out of Pennslyvania. He’s 6-foot-1, 235 pounds, and is ranked as the No. 304 overall prospect according to the On3 consensus rankings. He’s also the fifth-best player in PA.

Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, and Georgia were among the teams in the mix, although Alabama and some other big names offered the top-300 recruit (via 247 composite rankings).
