J.J. McCarthy doesn’t need surgery
There was talk that J.J. McCarthy was going to need surgery for a shoulder injury. Yet, that report was contradicted by Sam Webb this week and Jim Harbaugh confirmed what Webb reported which is that McCarthy doesn’t need to have surgery. Here’s what he said:

. @CoachJim4UM on @jjmccarthy09: JJ has some lingering arm soreness from the season. Consulted all the top experts on it. Have a short term plan and a long term plan to address it. No surgery. People are reporting that, but it's a non-surgical plan

It’s worrying that McCarthy has some “lingering soreness” in his arm but Harbaugh said there is both a long-term and short-term plan for his health. But it’s good that Michigan football is managing it and of note, Harbaugh didn’t say McCarthy was out this spring.
Harbaugh: JaDen McBurrows and Rod Moore had injuries during the season that required surgeries. They're out for the spring

Which is something he said about both Rod Moore and Ja’Den McBurrows. Moore was one of the most impactful true freshmen on the roster last season and is expected to compete for one of the starting jobs open at safety, while McBurrows is a big-time sleeper in the cornerback competition.
