Michigan Football: Key takeaways from Jim Harbaugh’s spring presser
Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh met with the media on Tuesday and here are some of the key takeaways from his rare press conference.
Jim Harbaugh hadn’t held an actual press conference since the Orange Bowl but he was back in front of reporters on Tuesday as he took questions on all sorts of topics.
Of course, his NFL pursuit came up and Harbaugh once again explained that after seven years at Michigan football (the length of his original contract) he was interested in exploring the NFL but that he decided he wanted to remain at U-M.
A lot of people think Harbaugh was simply denied by the NFL and that’s the only reason he returned. But there’s no doubt he loves Michigan football. I don’t know what happened between him and the Vikings, but I know he wanted to go there and they didn’t hire him, which will prove to be a big mistake and a tremendous gift for Michigan moving forward.
Jim is also still a man of his word. He didn’t lie about his intentions to anyone. He was honest and you can believe him when he says he’ll stay at Michigan as long as it will have him. Harbaugh wants to win the national title and I don’t think anyone should doubt his commitment to doing that at the University of Michigan.
I know he wants a Super Bowl, but winning a national title in this day-and-age at Michigan would be like LeBron winning the NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers. It would cement Harbaugh’s legacy as one of the great head football coaches of all time.
