Michigan Football: Scouting top 6 O-line targets for Wolverines in 2023
By Alex Hinton
Four-star OT Cayden Green (Lee’s Summit, MO/Lee’s Summit North HS)
Green is not as long as Proctor, but he still has good size at 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds. Green can also play left tackle but he can also play on the right side should Michigan football land Conerly Jr. or if he is in a class with Proctor. He is ranked as the 70th class overall prospect and No. 7 offensive tackle in the 2023 class.
At this stage, Michigan is in a better position with Green. He has a top group of Oklahoma, Michigan, and Baylor. Oklahoma is hard in pursuit and has offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh as his primary recruiter, one of the best recruiters and offensive line coaches in the country.
Michigan is countering with Sherrone Moore so it should feel good about its chances to hang in this race until the end. Green plans on his announcing his decision in November ($), which gives Michigan time to lock in an official visit.
He just visited Michigan football in January, which moved the Wolverines up his list, and he plans to return on March 12th($). Oklahoma has the lone prediction on his crystal ball, but it was from last May.
Four-star OT Charles Jagusah (Rock Island, IL/Alleman HS)
Michigan fans like to say that the best players in Michigan go to Michigan, but it is hard to dispute that the best players in Illinois go to Michigan.
Michigan landed the No. 1 player in the state in 2019 (Trevor Keegan), No.2 in 2020 (A.J. Henning), and No. 4 in 2022 (Tyler Morris). Additionally, J.J. McCarthy is originally from Illinois but transferred to IMG Academy to finish out his high school career. He would have finished as the top player in Illinois in 2021 had he stayed.
The top player in Illinois in 2023 is offensive tackle Charles Jagusah. Jagusah is not as polished as Proctor or Green, but his upside is just as high. He has long arms on a 6-foot-6 308 pound frame, but also the quick feet and athleticism to play left tackle. He is ranked as the No. 78 player and No. 8 offensive tackle in the 2023 class.
Jagusah’s top group consists of Michigan football, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri. He got a visit from Sherrone Moore in January and he enjoyed his trip to Ann Arbor for a game last fall.
The more Michigan gets him on campus, the better its chances of landing him will be. He is relatively open at this stage, but Notre Dame leads on his crystal ball with one prediction to this point.
