3. Devante Jones finally played an elite level game

Devante Jones has struggled essentially all season with turnovers, defensive vulnerability, and careless mistakes offensively but Friday he showcased a performance that we’ve been looking for from him.

Devante shot 7-16 from the field, went 1-for-2 from deep, 2-of-2 from the line, grabbed six boards three steals, and only committed one turnover. This was an all-around elite performance by the former Sun Belt Player of the Year.

Michigan’s never lacked at PG per late with names like Zavier Simpson, Mike Smith, and so on but with DeVante we really struggled to see anything super productive without any consequential mistakes such as committing 4+ turnovers.

His performance was the biggest key to Michigan’s success throughout the game even though they did not win. Putting up a team-high 17 points, nearly eight more points than the 2nd leader on the team shows how big of an impact he made for the Wolverines.

While he’s been super inconsistent, we can all agree this was his best performance to date with the Michigan Wolverines. Whether or not we get that type of performance consistantly from now on, we can say is that this will give him confidence moving forward.
