There’s been a lot going on with Michigan football’s wide receiver recruiting in the 2022 class and here’s the latest.

It’s Michigan State week and that’s obviously the focus for most Michigan football fans. It’s a huge game so it makes sense.

And we’ve got you covered, taking a look at the keys for Michigan to beat Michigan State, as well as three reasons why the Paul Bunyan will return to Ann Arbor.

But there has also been some news on the recruiting trail this week and it started on Tuesday with the decommitment of Tay’Shawn Trent, a former three-star pledge from the state of Michigan.

Trent’s commitment was something that you could see coming, especially after he took a visit to Louisville. Yet, it still leaves the Wolverines with one commitment at the position for 2022.

Michigan football signed three receivers at one point in the 2021 class but we all know what happened with Xavier Worthy, so just two wound up coming.

I have high hopes for both and Michigan football has plenty of wideouts that should be back too such as A.J. Henning, Roman Wilson, Mike Sainristil, and probably Ronnie Bell and Cornelius Johnson, in addition to Andrel Anthony and Christian Dixon.

The numbers aren’t dire is the point.

However, with the transfer portal, you always want to have depth, and Michigan football offered a new 2022 wideout in Kaleb Webb on Tuesday.

Webb is verbally committed to East Carolina right now. He’s also a three-star recruit that’s been trending up and has picked up interest from a slew of SEC schools in the last month or so.

When Trent decommitted, one name to take his spot was Dane Key. Michigan has wanted Key for a while now, but the four-star wideout from Kentucky is now trending with crystal balls to the Wildcats and it looks like they will be the choice.

Michigan football could be second on his list but when he decides on Thursday, it should be UK. The puts Webb as a target to watch especially after Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider reported that he would be taking a visit to Ann Arbor next weekend for the Indiana game.

Webb is a track athlete and would be a great fit. And with him scheduling a visit already, there’s a good chance there’s some mutual interest.
