Michigan football lost a commitment in 2022 from a wide receiver on Tuesday and offered another wideout the same day.

Things can move quickly on the recruiting trail and following a decommitment on Tuesday from three-star wide receiver Tay’Shawn Trent, Michigan football has its sights set on a new target.

That is three-star wide receiver recruit, Kaleb Webb. He’s a three-star prospect out of Powder Springs, Georgia, and is currently committed to East Carolina. He reported the offer on his Twitter account on Tuesday night.

You can almost hear Michigan football fans, at least some of them saying, “Going after an East Carolina commitment now huh?”

Yes, Michigan is doing just that but the Wolverines aren’t alone as Webb is picking up steam on the recruiting trail and has picked up offers from Tennessee, South Carolina, Ole Miss, UCF, and Louisville.

Webb is listed at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds and he’s also a track athlete and his 247 sports profile reports him as having a 10.9 in the 100-meter dash. That’s solid speed and he flashes it in his highlights which feature him doing deep quite a bit and making plays down the field.

And he’s another recruit that’s rising right now. According to the 247 sports composite rankings for 2022, Webb is 667th overall and 93rd among wide receivers. He’s also rated as an 86. But in its own rankings, 247 sports has him as an 88 and 72nd at his position.

The fact that every recruit Michigan football seems to be involved with right now is on the rise isn’t a coincidence and it’s not fiction. Courtney Morgan and company are good with their evaluations and some like Aaron Alexander, a low-ranking three-star when committed, is even ranked as a four-star recruit by some service as he is by On3.

What’s the outlook for Michigan football?

The Wolverines have just one wide receiver committed in 2022 and that’s four-star Tyler Morris. They will need more and while Michigan football has pushed for Dane Key, a four-star recruit from Kentucky, it seems like he’s staying home with the Wildcats.

I mentioned that Amorion Walker is a guy who could play defensive back or wide receiver for the Wolverines if they are able to flip him from Notre Dame, but Webb could become a serious option.

He has visited Louisville and Tennessee recently and the next step will be getting him to Ann Arbor. With the way things have been going for U-M, it should be able to flip him, however, it is going to have to fend off some SEC teams with the same idea.
