The Michigan football season finally gets underway Saturday and here are the 10 Wolverines that are most important when it comes to winning in 2021.

The wait seems like forever. But finally, on Saturday, Michigan football returns to the Big House to take on Western Michigan for its 2021 season opener.

With a new coaching staff, a new starting quarterback, and a renewed sense of optimism, it’s hard to know what to expect from this Michigan football team. My prediction has been 8-9 wins in the regular season.

Of course, the ceiling could be even higher. The floor should be 7-5. That’s the absolute worst Michigan football can do this season in my humble opinion and even that wouldn’t be good.

Winning 10 games is possible for Michigan football. But a lot of things have to go right and these 10 guys need to stand out.

So with the season just over 48 hours away here are the 10 most important Michigan football players heading into the 2021 season.

10. Hassan Haskins

Michigan’s starting running back is 10th on our list of most important players. Remember, this isn’t a list of the best players on the roster or he would be higher.

I expect Haskins to push for 1,000 yards this season. He’s never gotten the chance to be the bell-cow and although Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards will get plenty of touches, he should get the most, especially after averaging 6.1 yards per attempt last season.

The offensive line should be better and that will allow Haskins to shine even more. But with the depth at his position, it drops his importance just a little bit.
