The first road game of the season doesn’t come until October but it’s a doozy as the Wolverines will travel to Madison to take on the Badgers.

Wisconsin is going to be good up front on the offensive line and Jalen Berger should be one of the Big Ten’s best running backs. Graham Mertz also has Wisconsin fans excited at the quarterback position plus some key skill guys are coming back such as tight end Jake Ferguson.

For Michigan, this will be about matching Wisconsin’s physical style of play. In the last two games, both easy Wisconsin wins, the Wolverines haven’t done that. If they don’t in this game, it will get ugly. I think U-M will put up a fight but isn’t ready to beat the best in the Big Ten West.

Final score: Wisconsin 27, Michigan 17 (4-1)

Michigan hasn’t played Nebraska since the first year of the Scott Frost era back in 2018 and this is a very different Cornhusker team. Nebraska will have the same quarterback that started in 2018, as Adrian Martinez is back for his senior season.

The Huskers return most of their defense and some key guys on the offensive line. Wan’Dale Robinson transferred out but the Huskers added Samori Toure from Montana in the portal as well as expected starting running back Markeese Stepp from USC.

Nebraska could have the best offense and defense of the Frost era and the Huskers feel like they should be bowling this season. This matchup is critical for both programs as each is trying to get into that 8-9 win range.

If Michigan wants to do that, winning at Nebraska is vital but Harbaugh’s team hasn’t had a ton of success on the road and this kind of win might just save Frost’s job.

Final score: Nebraska 23, Michigan 17 (4-2)
