4-star LB Sebastian Cheeks

Sebastian Cheeks has long been a priority target for Michigan football, although things did cool when there was a coaching change.

At one point, he was considered likely to wind up at Notre Dame, but with some of the additions Notre Dame has added to its 2022 class, the Irish are likely out of it here. Jeremy Patton, another top target at linebacker could be headed to Texas, another team in the mix for Cheeks.

All of this could give Michigan an opening. The Wolverines hosted him for a visit in June. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker is ranked 131st overall and 13th among linebackers. To me, he’s a true three-down linebacker and would be a tremendous addition to the 2022 class.

3-star EDGE Joshua Josephs

Most of the guys on this list are four and five-star recruits but the last guy on this list is three-star edge rusher Joshua Josephs, who is better than his ranking indicates.

Michigan football has done some solid work with pass rushers in the 2022 class. Eugenio, Micah Pollard, and Kevonte Henry are all excellent edge rushers. But you can never really have enough, especially as the Wolverines transition to a new scheme under Mike Macdonald.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Josephs is out of Georgia and is being recruited by Macdonald, among others. Auburn, Penn State, and Tennessee are all in the mix, but of all the guys on this list, he’s among the most realistic additions.
