After each of Michigan basketball’s point guard targets in 2022 took a visit to Ann Arbor, we should have some clarity on the position soon.

Jaden Bradley, Dug McDaniel, or Seth Trimble? That’s been the big question surrounding Michigan basketball recruiting lately as the Wolverines have hosted all three point guards this month.

McDaniel has been taking his official visit to Michigan basketball this week, which is expected to wrap up tomorrow. The 2022 point guard recently received a crystal ball prediction to Michigan, but he’s not alone as Trimble received multiple crystal balls to U-M once he received his offer.

McDaniel is ranked 83rd overall in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and he’s listed at just 5-foot-9. However, he’s widely considered one of the best playmakers in the class, and his style would mesh perfectly with Juwan Howard’s system.

Trimble is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the entire 2022 class (56th overall) and Bradley is a five-star prospect (14th overall) with crystal ball predictions to Kentucky and North Carolina. Trimble is also visiting the Tar Heels and they are the top threat in his recruitment.

The question still remains, who do the Wolverines want?

If Juwan is willing to take the commitment of any of the point guards, then I would expect a pledge to come relatively soon. Who knows, if the visit with McDaniel goes really well, maybe he will want to commit and then you have to wonder if the Wolverines give Trimble the chance first or just take it?

It’s hard to see them waiting for Bradley when they could take Trimble or McDaniel. Trimble told Stockrisers.com about deciding later in the summer, in July, or possibly even August, following more visits potentially in July.

Yet, if McDaniel wants to commit, would Trimble accelerate things? Would Michigan be willing to wait for Bradley? The Wolverines do seem to be gaining momentum but it would be hard to say no to the other targets if either wants the spot.

It will be interesting to see if they get a commitment from McDaniel or Trimble soon after Dug completes his visit. That will be something to watch.

Donovan Clingan praises Juwan, Michigan basketball

Another top target, at the center position, is Donovan Clingan, a 7-foot-1 recruit from Bristol, Connecticut. Clingan visited Ann Arbor this week and said some really positive things about Juwan Howard:

"“He knows what he’s doing,” Clingan told UM Hoops on Tuesday. “He’s developed Hunter (Dickinson) into an NBA prospect this year. He loves what he does. A lot of coaches are in it for other reasons, but he’s doing it because he loves it. That’s something I keep in the back of my head. He just knows what he’s doing when it comes to big men.”"

Clingan is ranked in the top 50 overall in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and he would be an ideal replacement for Hunter Dickinson, who is likely to head to the NBA after next season.

Few teams can offer that kind of role for a traditional back-to-the-basket center which is one reason why Michigan basketball is starting to feel like the favorite. That and Juwan.
