Donovan Clingan, 4-star C

As far as the center position is concerned, Donovan Clingan has emerged as the Wolverines’ top target and if Hunter Dickinson does enter the NBA draft after the 2021-22 season, Clingan could be the perfect plug-and-play replacement.

From the beginning, when Michigan basketball entered the mix with Clingan, the Wolverines have had a clear advantage, as they do with just about every big man due to Juwan’s ability to develop guys like Dickinson.

Clingan is out of Bristol, Connecticut, and is 7-foot-1, 255 pounds, and ranked 41st overall in the 2022 composite rankings. In-state school UConn is also making a strong push for Clingan and most experts believe it’s now a two-horse race, although he just put out a top eight.

Juwan has proven to be an elite recruiter, but getting Clingan out of Connecticut could prove to be a test. However, with his proven track record of developing bigs and the back-to-the-basket role available post-Dickinson to offer, U-M has a lot of things in its favor.
