Ambry Thomas

As important as the Michigan football Pro Day was for all of the attendees, it might have meant the most to former cornerback Ambry Thomas, who opted out of last season due to a previous illness and was out to prove something to NFL scouts.

In interviews leading up to the Pro Day, Thomas told reporters that NFL teams would regret it if they didn’t take him early and that’s he’s a top-5 cornerback in this draft.

Thomas is 5-foot-11, which is a little shorter than expected, but the most important thing about his pro day was always going to be the 40 time and in that regard, Thomas killed it, posting a time of 4.37.

While he didn’t play last season for Michigan football, Thomas proved to be a skilled man cover corner in 2018 and 2019, notching four interceptions.

Another thing that could help his draft stock is the fact that Thomas is electric on special teams. He returned a kickoff for a score against Notre Dame in 2018 and would be exceptional in that part of the game right away.

The former Wolverine also believes he’s an elite corner and we’ll see if teams agree on draft day, however, it’s hard to see him lasting past day two.
