3-point shooting

Over the years, Florida State has garnered a reputation as a defensive team. Michigan basketball fans will remember the 58-54 slugfest to the two teams had back in 2018.

But don’t let the traditional profile of Florida State fool you — this Seminoles team can shoot, especially from 3-point range.

The Noles shoot 38 percent from beyond the arc and rank 17th in the NCAA. Florida State doesn’t take a ton of 3-pointers, but by that metric, neither does Michigan. Both teams know how to get good 2-point attempts but when they shoot from deep, it’s at a high percentage.

Michigan basketball and Florida State mirror each other in terms of 3-point defense as U-M allows 32.8 percent and FSU, 32.6.

M.J. Walker and Anthony Polite are the names to know for Florida State as both shoots better than 43 percent from deep and combined, they average 3.6 3-point field goals per game.

Winning the 3-point battle is always key, but if Michigan loses it against Florida State, that might be tough to overcome.
