Michigan Basketball: 3 keys to Wolverines beating Wisconsin
Get Hunter going
In the first game between the two teams, Hunter Dickinson scored 12 points, grabbed six boards and blocked three shots. He also created a bunch of shots for others by passing out of double teams and the Wolverines made 9-of-16 from beyond the arc.
Since then, Dickinson hasn’t scored in double figures. He’s managed 20 points over his last three games and establishing him inside should be a top priority early.
Either make Wisconsin try to guard Dickinson one-on-one, which is still very hard to do, or make the Badgers run double teams at him, which should get open looks for U-M on the perimeter.
Throughout this season, Michigan has been a really-high level shooting team, both on 2-point attempts and on 3-pointers. But after this layoff, you wonder if there will be some rust. There almost has to be.
So it would make sense to get the ball inside to Dickinson and allow him to work. At the very least, running the offense through him, whether he scores or not, has been most effective this season and I’m sure he will see plenty of touches early on in Madison on Sunday.
