Bigs

Hunter Dickinson: A-

Dickinson may have played his worst game of the season and he’s getting an A- for tonight. That should tell you something. The true freshman was held to only two first half points and looked uncomfortable at times.

The second half was a completely different story. Dickinson finished with 12 points and six rebounds and added three blocks just for fun. He also did a fantastic job guarding the mobile big men for Wisconsin.

It just feels like every time Dickinson gets doubted, he answers the call and silences those doubters. He played with an extremely high motor tonight and continues to make strides on defense and on the glass. Dickinson may not have been the MVP tonight, but he still had a very good game.

Austin Davis: B

It was so nice to see Big Country back out there after he missed the last six games with a foot injury. I didn’t think he looked rusty, and he provided Michigan with great minutes like he always does.

Davis had four points and four rebounds in 12 minutes off the bench and guarded the perimeter better than I would have guessed. Now that Dickinson has cemented himself as the starting center, Davis will have to continue to embrace his role as the backup.

He has done it his whole career and the team is so connected right now so I don’t foresee that being an issue.

Brandon Johns: B

I have written previously about how Brandon Johns may be starting to lose some minutes to Terrance Williams. Johns has made me look silly for that prediction and he’s starting to play good basketball.

I thought Johns showed quick feet tonight on defense and it was evident how hard he played. He only finished with three points and three boards but it felt like his presence was bigger than that tonight.
