Charlie Strong would be the perfect fit

Charlie Strong is one name that has been repeatedly mentioned for the defensive coordinator job vacated by Don Brown and it’s one that makes a lot of sense.

He was formerly a head coach at Texas and South Florida, so he could fill the head coach of the defense role as Brown did, plus he spent this season working for Nick Saban as a defensive analyst.

That shows that Strong is trying to learn and adjust to stopping these new-age offenses and that would be a nice addition for the Wolverines. He was a great success in the SEC with Florida and is a coach who could do well in a coaching and recruiting role.

Beyond all that, Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider ($) has reported that Strong would be a viable candidate and with Brian Jean-Mary, a former assistant with Strong, recruiting and acting as though he will be back for U-M, that jives too especially if he was to be named co-DC.

There has been a lot of talk about Tim Banks too but if we are talking about the defensive coordinator job and not safeties too, than Strong looks like the best option.
