Grading Michigan Football’s offense after loss to Spartans
By Adam Childs
Quarterback – C-
Milton looked poised and in control the whole game against Minnesota. It was almost copmlete opposite yesterday against the Spartans. As we mentioned earlier, Michiagn State came with pressure early to disrupt him and it worked.
Milton who was so calm in the first game, looked jittery and probably left the pocket to quickly at times. He never looked comfortable, and it showed in his throws.

He also tended to stare down where he was going to go and threw into coverage on mutliple occasions. None of them ended up in turnovers but a couple of them should have.
His accuracy was a concern coming into the year and it came out yesterday. He repeatedly threw behind his receivers and over threw a couple of deep balls that should have been completed. He needs to find his touch or it will be a long year.
He has a cannon for an arm, he just needs to realize when to use it and when to use some touch. He has shown it at times, but he needs to be more consistant with it.
Milton also led a great drive at the end of the game, the problem was he needed to move so much quicker and make decisions based on the time remaining. It was the kind of drive the Wolverines needed earlier in the game. But with only five minutes remaining when they took over, the urgency needed to be there and it just didn’t seem like it was.
That is something that will become better with experience, but what Wolverines fans hoped would be here already.
For as good as Milton looked against Minnesota, there were questions about him against he Spartans. The talent is there, but he needs to be able to adjust to the game quicker and handle the pressure.
Its definitely not time to give up on him yet as it was just his second start. But fair or not, the Wolverines need better and they need it soon.
