Could more flips be coming?

Michigan was able to flip Jennings this week and there could be some other recruits that follow, including current Florida State commit Omarion Cooper.

EJ Holland of Rivals wrote this week ($) that if he could flip his pick from Florida State to Michigan he would do that.

"“I have strong reason to believe that Michigan has put itself in a position to steal Cooper from the Seminoles. Michigan has great relationships with Cooper and those around him, and Jennings would definitely recruit him to Ann Arbor.”"

At this point, Cooper is the only legitimate option Michigan football has at corner in 2021, unless the Wolverines decide to offer Maxwell Hairson, an in-state cornerback committed to Kentucky.

Florida State was looking like a total dumpster fire, but the Seminoles did upset No. 5 North Carolina on Saturday, so maybe that will stem the tide a little bit.

But Michigan is right in the mix with Cooper and that will be a recruiting battle to keep an eye on. Also, the Wolverines are trying to flip three-star safety Maurice Freeman.

Freeman is committed to Indiana and the Wolverines need another safety in the 2021 class, although Holland wrote in his article Michigan likes him as a big safety or Viper. He also said there is a “realistic” shot at a flip.

Indiana isn’t in the same realm as Michigan in terms of football programs, so the Michigan offer does have to carry some weight. Freeman also hasn’t visited Indiana, so the Wolverines and Hoosiers are on equal footing there.

Jennings gives the Wolverines 21 commitments in 2021 and if they are able to add Benny, four-star running back Donovan Edwards, Cooper and Freeman, that’d be a good haul. George Rooks is still a possibility too, although that’s more of a 50/50 deal.

The best-case scenario might be getting Benny or Rooks. Losing both, as Michigan did with Rocco Spindler and Drew Kendall, would be disastrous, especially with few options left at DT in the class and the real need at the position.

Either way, we will know for sure next Sunday with Benny and that’s a wrap for this week’s breakdown.
