Michigan Football hosts top O-line target, Rayshaun Benny decision date
Michigan football hosted another 2022 offensive line recruit over the last few days, plus we finally have a decision date from Rayshaun Benny.
Not long ago, Michigan football hosted a 2022 offensive lineman on an unofficial visit and over the past weekend, the Wolverines did it again, this time, with top target Fisher Anderson.
Earlier this month, Michigan football got a self-guided visit from Sullivan Weidman, a three-star offensive lineman from the state of Massachusetts. He was then projected to the Wolverines by Rivals recruiting expert EJ Holland.
However, Steve Lorenz of the Michigan Insider didn’t include Weidman on his top targets in his recent update, so it seems like there is still some evaluation going on with Weidman.
But when Lorenz listed his top four offensive line targets ($) for the Wolverines in 2022, Anderson made the cut along with Earnest Greene, Tyler Booker and Jacob Allen.
And according to Brice March of the Michigan Insider ($), Anderson took a self-guided visit to Michigan on Friday and Saturday.
Anderson was offered by Michigan in January and he was one of the first offensive lineman that U-M reached out to on Sept. 1. The 6-foot-6 recruit is listed as 257 pounds on his 247 sports profile but that number will surely go up.

In the 2022 class, Anderson is ranked as the No. 216 prospect overall and the No 24 offensive tackle, as well as the fifth-best player in the state of Tennessee.
Anderson released a top 15 list over the summer, but it’s hard to learn much from that. Michigan obviously made the list but it’s hard to determine the other contenders out of an offer list that includes LSU, Auburn, Baylor, Arkansas, West Virginia, North Carolina, Penn State, Florida, Tennessee and a bevy of top major programs.
He did take an unofficial visit to LSU in the spring and has been to Tennessee but the self-guided visit has to be interpreted as good news for the Wolverines.
At the very least, it would signal that Michigan is among the top contenders for a recruit that it has prioritized on the offensive line in 2022. But Anderson has also taken a visit to Penn State and told 247 sports ($) he hopes to get to Ohio State, Clemson and Baylor.
Rayshaun Benny decision date
While things are moving ahead in the class of 2022, Michigan football is still focused on a priority recruit in 2021 and that’s four-star defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny.
Word came out over the weekend that Benny would be making a decision within a couple of weeks and now we have a semi-firm date of Oct. 25 according to Justin Thind.
As I wrote this weekend, it looks like this race is down to Michigan and Michigan State. Penn State and Kentucky could still have a chance and they made the top four, but the Spartans seem to be the biggest threat.
It does make me a little worried that Benny has been talking more about the Spartans and they have been more on his social media.
But all the experts are still saying Michigan is the favorite and until we start seeing a shift in crystal balls, I wouldn’t fret too much, although losing Benny would be a huge blow.
