Michigan football made the top four with priority recruit Rayshaun Benny, but where do the Wolverines rank among the contenders as a decision looms?

For a while, it appeared as though one of Michigan football‘s top recruits in the 2021 class, Rayshaun Benny was going to push back a decision until official visits were possible.

But then, after suffering an injury and getting more time to reflect, Benny has decided that he wants to move up his timeline.

On Saturday, he announced that he had trimmed his top eight list down to a top four and that he would be deciding soon, although he didn’t name a date.

Benny, who is ranked as the No. 188 prospect overall in the 247 sports composite rankings, as well as the 90th overall prospect in 2021 according to Rivals, included Michigan football in his top four along with Michigan State, Penn State and Kentucky.

So this eliminated some schools such as LSU, Arkansas and Tennessee, schools that he had not visited. He has been to Michigan and is familiar with Michigan State and Penn State as well.

If you look at the prognostications, Michigan football would seem to be the heavy favorite to land his commitment, but if you read what Benny told Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider, you conclude that it’s not over yet, even if there is a favorite.

"“(The order of the list) can change because I’ve got schools that I always wanted to go to,” Benny insisted. “Maybe I’ve got family down there, or maybe it’s just somewhere I always watched when I was younger. If they (were) to come in a hard and recruit me (in the last few weeks), then yeah, they could fall in line.”"

So it does sound like there is time for movement but that a decision with come within a few weeks. Benny gave this quote before he released his top four and now that we have it, here’s a ranking of the contenders left in his recruitment.
