Michigan Football: 5 Thoughts on wild week of recruiting for Wolverines
Where Michigan stands with top priorities
While things didn’t go well this week in terms of the 2021 recruiting class with Allen leaving the class and David also trending hard to Oregon, there are still positives. But there is work too.
With 20 commitments, a class that looked like might not have room for all its targets, might now struggle to reach that 25-26 number that’s been speculated.
Dunlap should be joining the 2021 class soon, but after that, the focus will remain on Donovan Edwards, Rayshaun Benny and George Rooks, the three guys Michigan has to get this cycle.
Michigan football still doesn’t have a defensive tackle commitment this cycle and should be hearing a decision from Rooks soon. It’s clearly down to Michigan and Penn State at this point.
With Edwards, the Wolverines are still in the driver’s seat, although there was a prediction to Georgia this week from Rivals. That’s based on the idea that Edwards could visit Georgia.
If that happens, it could change up his recruitment but I still like where the Wolverines stand and with Edwards, Benny and Rooks, it’s fair to call U-M the leader.
But we have said that before and it didn’t lead to a commitment (Drew Kendall) so we will see what happens. If Michigan loses any of the three above, it will be a major blow to 2021.
