Conflicting picks on Edwards

There was actually a pair of new expert predictions on Edwards in just the last few days. Steve Lorenz of the Michigan Insider ($) finally put in a crystal ball for Michigan’s top target.

He also did so with a confidence level of six. And he dropped this little nugget which should get Michigan football fans excited:

"“I get the sense Michigan believes Edwards is closer to a decision rather than further. Our UGA insiders have chimed in on Edwards recently and I agree that Michigan is the choice now; one thing to watch is if he stretches things out further…the longer this goes, the more other schools will have a real shot.”"

The key with Edwards seems to be the timeline. That’s because there has always been this idea that if Edwards is able to visit Georgia and Oklahoma, especially with them playing games, that could change things.

That’s the reason why Josh Helmholdt of Rivals predicted Edwards would land with Georgia this week when he was breaking down the top uncommitted recruits in the Midwest. Here’s part of his reasoning:

"“He has always struck me as someone who goes against the grain, and with the Big Ten sitting this fall while the Big 12 and SEC, I’m not going to join the Michigan prognostications today.”"

Edwards now has eight crystal ball projections to the Wolverines from 247 sports. And on a related note, analyst Allen Trieu upped the confidence on his crystal ball from a two to a six.

In my opinion, Edwards recruitment is far from a done deal. Michigan is in a really good spot and even if he visits Georgia and Oklahoma, I still feel that way.

But as we have all learned with Rocco Spindler, Drew Kendall and even Josh Christopher in basketball, crystal balls aren’t a commitment, so keep your fingers crossed here.

Now to touch on a recruitment that seems to be heading the other way.
