Michigan Basketball: Wolverines trending upward with 5-star recruit
By Max S.
Michigan basketball’s top target in the 2021 class could be getting close to making a decision. And it appears the Wolverines are trending upward with 5-star Harrison Ingram.
I have been skeptical of Michigan’s chances at landing Harrison Ingram. It seems like Stanford and Purdue have been the well known leaders for quite some time. But there’s some buzz out there today that Michigan basketball is making a big time late push for the 5-star wing.
Dylan Burkhardt of UM Hoops had this to say about Ingram today ($):
"“Reached out to a couple of people and I think it’s definitely fair to say that things are trending upward for Ingram and potentially quickly. I think a decision in the next month is possible here.”"
Ingram ranks as the 13th best prospect in the 2021 class according to the 247Sports composite. He’s a potential one and done type player and would immediately raise the ceiling of whatever team he commits to.
Brian Snow of 247Sports has this scouting report on Ingram.
"“A unique prospect with what many would describe as an “old man” type of game. On the court he is kind of a point forward who uses savvy, skill and intelligence to dominate games. Ingram can play on the ball or off of it, knows how to create space for himself by changing speeds, and is one of the better passers in the class. His elite IQ and skill make him one of the best prospects in the class, and someone who will exceed his physical tools as a player and producer.”"
Juwan Howard has been pitching the idea of Ingram being a point-forward for the Wolverines. An athletic forward that not only can play off the ball and find mismatches, but can also initiate the offense.
If Juwan Howard is able to land Ingram, he would be the top ranked recruit to commit to Michigan basketball in either the John Beilein or the Juwan Howard era.
