Other top targets

Here is a breakdown of five other targets with a realistic chance of ending up in the 2021 class. (All rankings via the 247 composite)

3-star RB Tavierre Dunlap: Buy

As far as Dunlap is concerned, Michigan is still interested in adding him as a second running back and the Wolverines might be the team to beat if they really push for him. It feels like there will be room and he would be a nice addition along with Edwards in the backfield.

4-star CB Ceyair Wright: Sell

I do think Michigan has a chance with Wright but that will largely depend on whether he can get to Ann Arbor for a visit. Otherwise, he seems likely to stay out West, probably with either USC or Stanford. But Darion Green-Warren was a late get from California the last cycle, however, visits were allowed then, so it’s different.

3-star CB Kamari Lassiter: Sell

Michigan offered Lassiter just a couple of days after Kamonte Grimes, another top corner target, pledged to Nebraska instead. Lassiter is from Alabama and has a crystal ball pick for Auburn. Things could change and maybe U-M will push after a commitment but I’m not hopeful.

4-star DT Jay Toia: Sell

Toia’s recruitment is just plain weird. He has been committed to USC since June of 2018 but he recently included Michigan on a top five list of schools that includes USC, Utah, UCLA and Nebraska. Toia hasn’t visited and unless U-M misses on Rooks and Benny, I wouldn’t expect the Wolverines to push too hard.

4-star WR Jayden Thomas: Sell

Michigan already has four wide receivers committed in 2021, but still sent Thomas an official scholarship after Andrel Anthony pledged to the Wolverines, so you never know.  If Michigan had room and Thomas was interested, it’s possible, especially because the baseball program really wanted him. He’s a two-sport athlete. But he’s been trending with crystal balls to Notre Dame, so he’s probably not winding up at U-M.
