In-state sweep

Everybody knows that you need to recruit well close to home and for the most part, Michigan football has done that, even in 2021 getting Giovanni El-Hadi, Raheem Anderson, Andrel Anthony and Tommy Doman to commit as in-state recruits.

But if this recruiting class is really going to be impactful, the Wolverines need to close with the top two recruits left in the state of Michigan and that’s Edwards and Benny.

Michigan has done an exceptional job recruiting both. Edwards has a great relationship with Jim Harbaugh and the two talk on a weekly basis. That’s been a huge key in my opinion.

Harbaugh has made Edwards feel like a priority, as a key piece to the puzzle, which he obviously is, but that relationship has always been important. Edwards has said repeatedly he wants to take visits and one to Oklahoma could change up his recruitment.

But if those aren’t going to happen, he seems more likely to make an early decision.

U-M is in a similar boat with Benny. The coaching staff has built a great relationship there and recruiting him as a defensive tackle was huge. There are some other contenders, especially if visits take place but based on his current top list and the current climate, Michigan is the favorite.

Whatever else happens in the 2021 class, as long as Michigan gets Edwards and Benny, it will be just fine.
