Just days after Rocco Spindler chose Notre Dame, Michigan football picks up another crystal ball pick for 4-star recruit Drew Kendall.

It’s obvious that in terms of offensive line recruiting for Michigan football in 2021, there really is only one name left to care about and that’s Drew Kendall.

Kendall is a four-star guard out of Massachusetts and he’s been a priority target for the Wolverines over the last few months. Starting in April, he started to trend with expert picks from Rivals and 247 sports to the Wolverines.

However, Kendall appeared to grow weary of joining a recruiting class with four interior offensive lineman. Raheem Anderson and Greg Crippen are already committed, so adding Spindler and Kendall would have made four.

But now that Spindler has chosen Notre Dame, it opens the door for Kendall to commit to Michigan without having to worry about O-line numbers.

Latest projections of Kendall to Michigan

Before Spindler committed to the Irish, there were already eight crystal balls and 11 Futurecast picks in for Michigan. But since that announcement, two others have predicted Kendall to U-M.

One of those was Rivals’ Michigan reporter Clayton Selfie. He’s not really a recruiting expert, that’s EJ Holland who also has a pick for U-M, but it was logged on Aug. 9 all the same.

And then, on Monday, came a crystal ball projection from Clint Brewster a 247 sports recruiting insider ($). He didn’t specify any insider knowledge about Kendall’s recruitment in particular, which means he could just be reacting to Spindler’s decision, but he did put in the pick with a confidence level of seven on a scale of 1-10.

Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider ($) also reported that the coaching staff was planning to be in contact with Kendall again later this week. Kendall also spoke with Ed Warinner on Sunday.

The timeline for Kendall has been July/August. Obviously, he didn’t commit in July and we are 1/3 of the way through the month of August.

That means for Michigan, Kendall needs to make a commitment soon. If it goes beyond August, that could mean that Stanford or Boston College, where his parents went, is gaining traction.

So as far as Kendall goes, the next couple of weeks are key. Now that Spindler is out of the way, if Michigan can’t lock this recruitment down now, it probably isn’t going to happen.
