It appears that Michigan football recruit Drew Kendall is waiting on the decision of fellow four-star offensive lineman Rocco Spindler.

One thing Michigan football fans can be confident about, is the fact that on the recruiting trail, a decision by both Rocco Spindler and Drew Kendall should come soon.

The Wolverines have been recruiting Spindler for what seems like forever. He’s been a priority target in this class and finally, on Saturday, Michigan football will see if it lands him or not.

Right now, there is reason to believe Spindler is going to choose Notre Dame. The crystal ball pick of Steve Wiltfong was notable the other day. There’s also been some movement over at Rivals.

But with some recruits, you never really know and this might be one of them. Rocco seems to tell Michigan people good things about U-M and the same to the Notre Dame reporters.

Until it’s reported that he informs Michigan its’ not the choice, I wouldn’t lose hope. But I definitely feel much less confident than at the start of the week.

Michigan football still in good shape with Drew Kendall

For a while, it seemed like Michigan might be able to add both Spindler and Drew Kendall to its 2021 offensive line haul, but now it seems clear that it will be one or the other.

With two interior offensive lineman already committed in 2021, EJ Holland of Rivals reported ($) that Kendall’s decision to commit to Michigan is about the numbers, meaning he won’t commit if Spindler does this Saturday.

Holland wrote about Kendall, “This one is merely a numbers game. He doesn’t want to be part of a four-man interior offensive line class.”

That’s something that most started to suspect when Kendall stated dragging his feet in terms of making a decision. He talked about making a call in July and then didn’t. Now, it’s more clear than ever that he was just waiting for Spindler.

Holland also reported Ed Warinner has still been in frequent contact with Kendall and his family, so if Spindler does indeed go to Notre Dame, Michigan can quickly pivot and try to lock up a commitment from Kendall, who is ranked 126th overall in 2021 via the 247 composite.

Kendall is also ranked eight among offensive guards in the 247 composite but according to Rivals, he’s a top-100 prospect, coming in at No. 65 and fourth at his position.

Between Rivals and 247 sports, there are 19 predictions (crystal balls, Futurecasts) projecting Kendall to Michigan. So one way or another, U-M is getting a line O-lineman soon.
