Michigan football fans aren’t going to like the latest crystal ball projection put in with regards to four-star offensive lineman Rocco Spindler.

Ever since Rocco Spindler announced he was be making his college decision on Aug. 8, Michigan football fans have been dying to find out any new information about his recruitment.

Recently, it was reported that Spindler cut off contact with both coaching staffs as he wanted to take time to himself while he made the decision.

At this point, we don’t know if a decision has been made, but a new crystal ball came in Tuesday regarding Spindler and it was from Steve Wiltfong ($), a national recruiting expert for 247 sports. It was also for Notre Dame.

What makes matters even worse is that the crystal ball was lodged with a confidence level of seven out of 10. Yet, here was the only explanation given by Wiltfong:

"“Logged a big 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast in favor of Notre Dame on Tuesday afternoon. Heading into Clarkston (Mich.) High Top247 2021 offensive lineman Rocco Spindler’s decision on Aug. 8, I’ve felt the momentum has been with the Irish for much of the last few months and with that I’ve logged a prediction in favor of ND to secure the four-star offensive guard.”"

What does this mean for Michigan?

The crystal ball is significant because it’s the first real movement we have seen regarding Rocco in the last month or so.

For the most part, the Michigan football experts have projected him to the Wolverines and the Notre Dame guys have done the same.

In terms of overall crystal ball numbers, Notre Dame has 52 percent of Spindler’s predictions and Michigan is at 47 percent. However, the average confidence of the picks for the Irish is a seven, compared to just a four on the U-M side.

If you check over at Rivals, Notre Dame owns 71 percent of Spindler’s Futurecast picks. But, on the bright side, EJ Holland, the Michigan analyst, hasn’t changed his pick. It’s still for Michigan.

But the fact that Wiltfong came in so late at such a high level of confidence makes you think he must have some inside info, even if he isn’t sharing it.

I’ve always had a hard time believing Spindler would spurn Michigan football for Notre Dame, but this makes it seem more possible. We’ll see if more experts follow. If that happens, it will be bad news for the Wolverines.

If Spindler does commit to Notre Dame, the obvious move is making sure that the staff locks down the commitment of four-star guard Drew Kendall.

The hope at one time was to get both. Instead, it looks like Michigan will get just one and if U-M doesn’t land Spindler, hopefully, it can still get Kendall.
