Here are three thoughts on the commitment of Will Tschetter and recent Michigan basketball recruiting in 2021.

No matter how you slice it, Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard was going to face a big challenge with the 2021 recruiting class.

Depending on how the roster shakes out, Howard could have six or possibly even openings to fill, not to mention a roster thin on experience and in some cases, thin on certainly qualities.

Howard and the Wolverines are doing their best to address that in 2021 and have gotten off to a very strong start with the recent commitments of four-star wing Isaiah Barnes and more recently of three-star power forward Will Tschetter.

Tschetter isn’t a five-star recruit and actually, right now, he’s not even a four-star guy, although that could change. Regardless of his ranking, Tschetter is an interesting commit and here’s a scouting report from Dylan Burkhardt of UMHoops.com ($):

"At 6-foot-8, Tschetter is a skilled forward who can stretch the floor with his jump shot or attack inside. He runs the floor well, hits shots consistently and has a go-to spin move to score effectively when facing up against slower defenders. He’s the definition of a face-up four man in a modern college basketball offense. He uses the threat of his jump shot to set up his off the dribble game and while he’s more comfortable attacking as a face-up threat, he can also score inside with his back to the basket."

There are a lot of things to like in that scouting report but here’s a look at how Tschetter fits within the roster, as well as some thoughts on Michigan’s 2021 approach as a whole.
