4-star DT George Rooks

Michigan football needs big bodies on the defensive line and in the 2021 class, the Wolverines still have yet to land a commitment from a defensive tackle. Yet, with four-star standout George Rooks from New Jersey, that could change soon.

Even though Rooks hasn’t officially visited Michigan and won’t be able to until this dead period is lifted by the NCAA, his sister played basketball and he’s familiar with the school. He’s got a solid relationship with defensive line coach Shaun Nua and even though he hasn’t said much about the Wolverines, they are leading with expert picks at 247 sports and Rivals.

Holland of Rivals ($) wrote earlier this week that Rooks could decide at any time. He doesn’t do many interviews and isn’t one to speak much about his recruitment. But the Wolverines have kept in contact with him and it appears the main rival right now is Syracuse.

Rooks is 6-foot-4, 260 pounds already and whether he plays five-technique down the road or defensive tackle, he’s the kind of d-lineman the Wolverines love and it wouldn’t be shocking if he announced for U-M sometime soon.
