Michigan football has added 19 verbal commitments to its 2021 class, who could be the next recruit to add his name to the list?

As we get closer and closer to the season, if there is a season, the recruiting board for Michigan football and just about every other school continues to shrink down as players across the country announce their commitments.

Michigan football has added 17 commitments since March, but the Wolverines, who will likely take around 26 players in this class, depending on how things shake out, still have work to do.

After recently getting commitments from Christian Dixon and Quintin Somerville, Michigan football is waiting to hear from a number of different prospects, including Rocco Spindler, Donovan Edwards, Rayshaun Benny, Drew Kendall and a number of others.

Of all the guys who could be the next to commit to Michigan, Kendall has to be right there, so we will begin our list with him.

Drew Kendall, 4-star OL

Michigan has been the favorite for Kendall for a while now. The Wolverines own all of his expert predictions from 247 sports and Rivals right now. In late June, Kendall told 247 sports ($) that he wanted to make a decision within the next month and he seems to be on a July timeline.

Some have started to question whether Kendall wants to be part of a six-man offensive line class, which is what it would be if both he and Rocco Spindler committed. Yet, it didn’t seem to bother Kendall when he talked to EJ Holland of Rivals in June ($):

"“He said as long as there aren’t six people committed on the offensive line, I’ll have a spot. He said he’ll go up to six and take me. But if that fifth comes, he’s going to have to let me know there is one spot left. It’s kind of a numbers game. He’s been very honest with me this whole time. He’s been very relaxed and hasn’t put any pressure on me, which I appreciate.”"

Kendall, a top-100 recruit according to 247 and Rivals, makes this list because his commitment watch has really begun in earnest. While Michigan has been the clear leader for him, in-state Boston College has continued to push and could be a threat, especially if Kendall worries about the size of the class and maybe being moved over to defense.

If he doesn’t decide on Michigan by the end of July, then I’d feel much less confident about him actually joining the 2021 class. So Kendall is a great candidate to be the next commitment, here are two others.
