Joe Milton

Experience is not on the side of third year flamethrower. His breakout outing came in a blowout win over Rutgers. He threw and ran for a score, while getting noticed for his results by coach Harbaugh afterwards. Therefore by only appearing in four contests, Milton kept his redshirt available for 2019.

Milton’s cannon-like arm strength has been the talk of the town since arriving on campus two years ago. He teased it a handful of times, but crowds have yet to witness his full arsenal on display.

It’s easy to say that if Milton had McCaffrey’s wheels he would be the obvious choice, but that is where he lacks the mobility that his teammate possesses. Needless to say, he’ll have to be ready in a pinch if he doesn’t earn the role or something happens to McCaffrey.

When the moments that mattered the most though, he performed admirably during mostly garbage time. He also threw some risky passes that turned into interceptions. Everyone knows that it is another completely different animal to lace up the boots as the man under center in the vicious Big Ten conference on a weekly basis. It feels oddly like this is a now or never situation for the four-star recruit to master his craft with McCaffrey presumably ahead of him and five star J.J McCarthy making his way to Ann Arbor in 2021.
