Michigan Football: Expert projects 2021 3-star DB to Wolverines
Michigan football has been looking at corners and safeties and one player who could play both spots in 2021, is now being projected to the Wolverines.
Things have moved quickly with Michigan football and 2021 recruit Kamonte Grimes. A player some schools want as a wideout, the Wolverines want the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder in the secondary.
And during his recruitment, they have sold him on a vision on playing a Jabrill-Peppers type of role, where he could be a corner, a safety or even a viper down the road. Well, it seemed like that pitch was starting to pay off and now, Rivals recruiting expert EJ Holland has placed a Futurecast ($), predicting Grimes to Michigan football for the 2021 recruiting class.
Here’s part of what he wrote, explaining the pick ($):
"“I spoke to a source close to the program today that reiterated that they feel strongly about landing Grimes and have made him a top target over the last couple of months.”"
Michigan has definitely made a big push wth Grimes and it makes sense because the team only has one player committed at corner and safety for the 2021 class. While Grimes has said he wants to play offense and there’s a chance the Wolveirnes could allow that too, the selling pitch being used by the staff appears to be working quite well.
Grimes is 508th overall in 2021 via the 247 composite rankings and as an athlete, he’s ranked 35th.
Michigan football won’t give in on four-star Garrett Dellinger
We are eight days away from top Michigan target Garrett Dellinger making his decision. The four-star offensive tackle who is rated 76th overall in the 2021 class and 12th among offensive tackles is slated to make his decision next Wednesday.
While all of his crystal ball projections have Dellinger going to the LSU, not the Wolverines, who seem to be the other top contender, U-M isn’t giving up the fight and according to Holland ($), offensive line coach Ed Warinner was in touch with Dellinger again this week, with head coach Jim Harbaugh slated to follow up with him too.
Holland did write that Delinger didn’t tell the Wolverines he was going to LSU. Who knows if he will tell the schools beforehand or not. Some players do and some don’t but until Dellinger announces LSU, Michigan football isn’t giving in and with four O-lineman already committed, including two tackles, the Wolverines can afford to throw a lot at Dellinger right now.
We’ll see if it works.
