Four more and many more to come

It’s not possible to track every single call that’s made from the Michigan basketball staff without wiretapping a lot of telephones. In the absence of criminal activity, we’re going to rely on the recruits to reveal the conversations they’ve had with the U-M coaches. Here are four more reported contacts.

Kyler Vanderjagt

Northview High School, Grand Rapids, MI

While he doesn’t have rankings either as a basketball or football player, Kyler Vanderjagt is turning heads in both sports, and according to 6deepbasketball, he’s the second-best basketball player in Southwest Michigan behind Jack Karasinki.

Jayden Epps

King’s Fork High School, Suffolk, VA

Jayden Epps is a top 50 recruit. That’s a fact. His coach Rick Hite explains why.

“He’s a blur, but he’s under control,” Hite said. “And that’s a skill set in itself. And he can score from anywhere. He can score outside. He can get to the paint. And he can make free throws. So, he’s really a match-up problem. And then you surround him with some talented people who can make shots, can rebound, it frees him up to do some things.”

Jayden averaged 30 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals per game since transferring to his new school, and that’s sent his name to the top of the recruiting boards of the best programs in the country, and it’s earned him some elite offers.

Camden Heide

Wayzata High School, Minneapolis, MN

Four-star Camden Heide is on everyone’s radar. He’s 32nd overall per 247 sports, the seventh-best PF, and No. 1 in Minnesota for 2022, and Rivals has him at 42nd.

He’s definitely one of the most talented kids in his class, and he’s proved it on the court at the national level. During the tryouts for the USA Basketball U16 team, Camden was one of 18 finalists, and he’ll be back again for more as he improves his game.

“I like USA Basketball a lot,” Camden said of his experience. “Everybody there is a top-notch player. You can’t just go there thinking you are good. You have to always play hard and give it your best.”

Here’s Rivals, Eric Bossi, with the evaluation:

"Camden Heide made me a believer right from the tip on Saturday. A bigger guard-wing that can play both off of the ball spots out top, what Heide does well has never been more valuable for today’s game. A shot maker at its finest, every time Heide shoots the ball, you feel as if it is going to go in. He has no issues getting into open spots within the opposing defense but has a strong feel for the game that allows for him to make the proper read off of the catch, whether that is shooting it from 22-feet, attacking the closeout or hitting the open teammate with the quick pass."

Keyonte George

iSchool, Lewisville, TX

Keyonte George is too good for regular high school basketball, which is why he transferred to iSchool to play a national schedule and receive even more national attention. Before he departed, Keyonte averaged 23.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game as a sophomore.

247 sports has the five-star at 16th overall for his class, the No. 3 SG, and No. 2 for the state of Texas.

ESPN ranks Keyonte 13th nationally with five-stars, and Rivals has him as high as ninth.

Here’s the evaluation from NBA Draft Room:

"George is a silky smooth athlete with elite level quickness. He’s got great hops, can finish above the rim and gets really good elevation on his mid range jumper. He’s too fast for most defenders to contain and he’s a constant threat to score the ball. He projects as a high to elite level prospect who has a very bright future."
