Starting quarterback

Dylan McCaffrey is the obvious choice for the starting quarterback role. When Shea needed a rest, or the game was no longer on the line, Dylan was the next man up.

Without spring ball, it becomes even more difficult for Joe Milton to move up the ranks and into the starring role. He’s a big man with a big arm that can break fingers with his throws if the ball isn’t caught right. What Joe needed to do was to loosen up and concentrate on accuracy and add in a bit of touch to some of his throws.

A 90 mile-an-hour fastball isn’t the throw for a five-yard crossing route. When that throw is implemented, the chance for a deflection and subsequent interception is extremely high.

Working out this offseason with Devin Gardner and Michigan’s leading receiver from last season, Ronnie Bell, Milton might be more prepared than previously thought, and Gardner doesn’t believe anyone has more talent than the 6-foot-5 245-pound QB.

“Seeing Joe throw extensively over this time, it’s very hard to say that any person in the country could have an edge over him with the talent that he has,” Gardner said on WTKA’s ‘Inside the Huddle.’

I don’t expect anyone other than a McCaffrey to get the go-ahead early on. Still, struggles and possibly injuries will sideline the younger brother of Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey leaving the job to the Milton, who will Vince Young his way to many wins in the maize and blue.
