Q: Your team American Heritage, lost by three in the regional final to the eventual 2019 FHSAA Football State Champions, the Northwestern Bulls. What’s the plan for revenge and what made the difference in that tight matchup?
A: “The Miami Northwestern Bulls are a great team and I give all credit to them, they deserve to be in the position they are in. Our plan is to work hard every day under our top of the line strength and conditioning coach Mike Smith. His programming and system for us allow us to be the most conditioned team there is, just getting better as the season goes will be our goal. And if a rematch comes again, we’ll do everything we can to win and get back to the top.”
Q: American Heritage was named to the MaxPreps Way-too-early 2020 preseason high school football ranks watch list under the subsection Five Teams on the Radar with you listed as a key returner. What do you think your team can accomplish this season and how have you been preparing?
A: “I think our team can accomplish anything, I always have the utmost confidence in my team and I believe we are capable of being as good as any other team there is. We’re preparing by doing everything we possibly can, watching film, working out, mental reps. When you cannot physically prepare for what’s ahead, we take mental preparation just as serious and we will be ready.”
Q: There is a national pandemic that has many businesses and establishments closed. How has your family been dealing with Covid-19? And when everything goes back to normal, what’s the first thing you’re going to do?
A: “We’ll ease our way back into things and just get back to regular living, we’ll still take serious caution with new habits created by this, health and safety is our number one priority.”
