Michigan Football: 3 Wolverines who found good fits in 2020 NFL draft
Peoples-Jones to Cleveland
Regardless of the reasons why Donovan Peoples-Jones fell to the sixth round of the NFL draft, he actually landed in a pretty good spot with the Cleveland Browns.
For one, Peoples-Jones isn’t going to be counted to come in and make an immediate impact. The Browns have Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, two very talented wide receivers already, as well as a bright young quarterback in Baker Mayfield.
But Peoples-Jones can bring something a little different to the table for the Browns and that’s why it’s hard not to like the fit for the former Wolverine who finished his U-M career with 14 touchdowns.
Peoples-Jones offers some size and the ability to get a bigger receiver on the outside. He’s proven to be effective on underneath routes and in the red zone or as a No. 3 receiver, it’s possible to see him finding a niche role and being successful.
If the Browns want Peoples-Jones to grow into a No. 1 wideout someday, that’s going to be a stretch, however, a solid two or three is doable, especially in Cleveland.
