Bradenton beast

No one really knew the status of the Greg Crippen-Notre Dame relationship (He had made his pledge to ND a little over a year ago) until the Fighting Irish released a graphic that didn’t feature the 6-foot-4-inch 285-pound interior lineman who plays for the football powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Shortly after, Greg was seeking other suitors.

“I’m planning to visit Michigan and USC this spring,” he said once the news hit. “Maybe Alabama some time in the future. I’m talking to other schools, too. Michigan is a great school. Great academics, great offensive line, I like them right now. I’m really trying to branch out. It’s Coach (Ed) Warriner who I talk to there.”

Apparently, Warriner did enough to seal the deal. On March 25, 2020, Crippen announced a new destination: Ann Arbor.

Crippen is ranked by 247 sports at 222nd nationally, 11th overall guard, and 30th in Florida, with a 9173 composite score and four-stars.

Brandon Huffman (247 sports) provides the scouting report:

"An interior linemen who is a natural center, Crippen does a good job of making the snap then engaging the necessary defender. Uses his hands well and keeps his defender engaged. Decently flexible, at times looks like he’s bending at the waist but then shows more knee bend. Looks for contact and where he can deliver a punch. Occasionaly lunges so we’ll need to work on that and keep his balance while also keeping his feet chopping. Projects as multi-year Power 5 starter."

Per ESPN, Crippen is within the ESPN top 300 (290th) and carries a scout grade of 80 with four-stars.

Rivals also has Greg as a four-star, but much higher at 129th nationally, the 5th best guard, and 14th in-state.
