Prior to spring, Michigan football had two commitments. There are now seven in total. Here’s a look at the five added to the 2021 class.

Michigan football‘s 2021 class was special but slim.

The highly coveted quarterback J.J. McCarthy is the highlight of the class, with five-stars and a 9909 composite rating. He announced his pledge during Spring of last year, two months after the former lone ranger, Giovanni El-Hadi, made his pledge.

The Wolverines had two recruits, while others, like the rivals to the south, had 10, 12, and sometimes even 15 recruits. It was assumed U-M had fallen behind in the race for the top talent.

That’s not actually what happened.

When you look at it on the surface, sure, Michigan football is lacking in total personnel, but consider this: 8 out of the top ten highest-ranked recruits – according to 247 sports – are still uncommitted.

Going even further, only 10 of the top 30 guys have decided where they will continue their academic and athletic careers.

Going even further, only 17 of the top 50 chose the campus that fits them best. And some of those 17 might not end up at the place the initially selected.

It’s early.

With that said, Michigan is making a push, and Spring has brought both a break from the frigid temperatures and a flurry of recruits who have picked UM over other suiters.

In total, five high school stars were added to the 2021 class. Here’s a look at each one.
