No. 2 Jordan Poole pulls a Trey Burke

When third-seeded Michigan basketball took on sixth-seeded Houston, it just had the feeling of an upset and sure enough, in the second half, the Wolverines at one point found themselves facing a 10-point deficit.

Strangely enough, Jon Teske came up with some huge buckets (actually six free throws) to help keep the Wolverines in it and then after a missed free throw by the Cougars, who were up two, Jordan Poole hit one of the most memorable shots in Michigan history. Here’s what Beilein said recently about the shot to Andy Katz:

"“Usually a guy shoots it, because there’s only a second and a half on the clock, but he found Jordan Poole on the right wing. Jordan made a shot that was incredible, but he made it like the day before in practice, I don’t know if we ran that exact play, but it was a last-second situation play, that exact shot almost from the same spot on the floor.”"

Not only was it one of the most improbable endings in the history of Michigan basketball, but it also propelled the Wolverines to their second national title game appearance in six years and like Burke’s shot, it will live forever.
